Wright-Hennepin’s Operation Round Up Members Donated $47,800 to Local Organizations Last Month

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association members who participate in Operation Round Up (ORU) donated grants totaling over $47,800 in February.

Under the ORU program, members agree to allow their monthly electric bill to be rounded up to the next dollar. That rounded amount is then used for donations that support local programs.

In February, over $29,000 was donated to local food shelves. Other organizations that benefited from ORU donations included the Angel Foundation, Thumbs Up, Can Do Canines, and MNK9SS.

Wright-Hennepin says approximately 90 percent of the co-op members participate in Operation Round Up. Officials say the program has awarded some 5.6 million dollars to local organizations since its inception in 1994.
