The cost of owning and operating a vehicle continues to go up.
Gas prices normally climb somewhat as the summer driving season approaches, but officials say much of the spike in the price at the pump over the past several weeks can be traced to the war in Iran.
Triple A Minnesota reports that the nationwide average price of a gallon of self-serve unleaded was $4.09.
The Minnesota average stands at about $3.69 per gallon, up about 60 cents a gallon from a year ago. Closer to home, the average price is around $3.74 per gallon in the Twin Cities, up about 63 cents per gallon over the same period a year ago. Wright County’s average price is $3.72 per gallon, though a few stations typically run below the average price.
Many consumers are uneasy about what the price of goods delivered by the nation’s truckers may do in the days and weeks ahead. The local price of diesel fuel in Minnesota has been over 5 dollars per gallon for much of the month of April.
