U of M Dr. Gives Tips for Managing Stress

April is Stress Awareness Month.

University of Minnesota Dr. Christine Danner says for a lot of people, when stress factors in our lives are analyzed, many can be managed and controlled.

She says however, there are times when situations and circumstances that cause us to be stresses out are much more difficult to manage…

Sometimes stressors, however, are outside of our control. And so then we got to think about, okay, if I don’t have control over the stressor, how do I want to respond to it? So maybe we need to learn how to slow our breathing down, how to relax our muscles, how to have a little reassuring talk with ourselves so that we can actually be in a good mindset to deal with the stressor in front of us.”

Dr. Danner says, believe it or not, stress isn’t all bad, and sometimes can be a great teacher for changes you need to make in life.
