The Wright County Board of Commissioners will have at least one new member next year after an announcement by one of the current commissioners.
District 1 Commissioner Tina Diedrick, whose current term ends at the end of the year, has announced that she will not seek re-election to the county board.
In a press release, Diedrick said that the announcement comes after “thoughtful consideration and prayer.”
Diedrick’s decision leaves an open seat on the county board for District 1 which takes in Annandale, portions of Buffalo, and South Haven, along with Albion, Buffalo, Chatham, Corinna and Southside Township.
From Commissioner Tina Diedrick:
“After thoughtful consideration and prayer, I want to let the residents of Commissioner District 1 know that I will not be seeking a second term as your commissioner.
In my three-plus years on the county board, I always had the best interests of Wright County residents in mind in all aspects of this position. I always voted with my conscience and my heart. I would like to sincerely thank the outstanding staff we have in the many county departments, as well as those I worked with on the numerous committees and advisory boards I have served on. I will treasure the time we had together doing the work of the citizens of Wright County.
To whoever is the next District 1 commissioner, I extend the offer to assist you however I can to make your transition to the county board easier. I hope I represented the constituents of District 1 to the level you expected and deserved. It has been an honor and a blessing to serve the people of District 1.”
