Gas prices across the country and here in Wright County continue to rise, and in recent days have surpassed the 4 dollar per gallon mark.

Triple-A Auto Club’s national gas price survey shows that Minnesota’s average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded is $3.98, but the average price in the Twin Cities and in Wright County is now $4.03. That price is up from about $3.45 a month ago, and up more than a dollar per gallon from the 3-dollar average last year at this time.

Though increases in the price at the pump are common heading into the summer driving season, the current increase reflects the on-going increase in crude oil prices due to the instability in the Middle East as the Iran war continues.

The national average gas prices have increased to $4.30 per gallon according to Triple-A, and the price of diesel fuel is now commonly over 5 dollars per gallon.
