Retired Wright County Deputy Terry Strege Announces Candidacy for District 1 County Commissioner

Former Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Strege has announced that he is a candidate for Wright County Commissioner in District 1.

Strege retired after some 33 years of law enforcement service as a deputy with the Wright County Sheriff’s Department.

In a press release, Strege said he wants to bring the same level of dedication that he displayed with the Sheriff’s Office to the County Board.

Strege lists his main focus as a commissioner would be to include maintaining fiscal responsibility and controlling property taxes, supporting law enforcement and first responders, addressing infrastructure needs in rural areas as well as in areas of new growth, and promoting what he calls…smart, balanced development.

Strege is seeking the 1st District seat being vacated by Commissioner Tina Diedrick, who recently announced she would not seek another term in office. Diedrick won election to the District 1 seat over Strege in November of 2022.

District 1 serves the cities of Buffalo, Annandale and South Haven, as well as Buffalo, Chatham, Albion, Corinna and Southside Townships.
