Maple Lake Man Arrested After Allegedly Making Terroristic Threats Involving School District Officials

A Maple Lake man remains in custody after allegedly making threats directed at the Maple Lake School District.

At approximately 4:30 PM on Thursday, May 7th, deputies responded to a report that a man with a gun was headed to the Maple Lake Schools.  The man was arrested en route to the school with a Ruger P89 pistol hidden under the driver’s seat, a loaded magazine in the vehicle, and another magazine in the man’s pants pocket.

The man was identified at 29-year-old Trent Davis Sutter of Maple Lake.  According to the criminal complaint, a woman reported that Sutter was upset about an employment issue involving the Maple Lake School District, and reportedly grabbed a firearm and left the residence, while allegedly making threats involving school officials.  Deputies stopped his vehicle about one block from the school.  Sutter is being held at the Wright County Jail on $900,000 bail.

Maple Lake Superintendent Mike Rowe stated in a letter to parents that the school district is increasing safety procedures, enhancing facility monitoring, and increasing law enforcement presence at the schools.

Law enforcement has indicated that there is no ongoing threat to the school district.
