2026 Finalists for 73rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way Named

Ten young women from Minnesota were recently names as finalists for the 73rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way, five of whom are from neighboring counties.

This past weekend, dairy princesses from around Minnesota gathered for the annual May Leadership Event at the Delta Hotel in Minneapolis, where they were judged on their knowledge of the dairy industry, communication skills, and enthusiasm for promoting dairy.  To compete, each dairy princess submitted an application, participated in a professional interview, prepared and delivered a speech, and participated in a mock media interview.

The finalists from our region include Kalley Christian of Lester Prairie – representing McLeod County, Claudia Frenchick of St. Martin – representing Meeker County, and Isabella Schiffler of Albany, Jaiden Smith of Melrose, and Daisy Zimmerman of Sauk Centre – all representing Stearns County.

These young women, and the five from other areas of the state, will all have their likenesses carved in butter during the 2026 Minnesota State Fair.  Midwest Dairy sponsors the Princess Kay of the Milky Way program, which is funded by dairy farmers through their promotion checkoff.

The current Princess Kay of the Milky Way is Malorie Thorson of Waverly.
