The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has announced that they are now accepting applications for the 2026 Electric Farm Equipment Grant, or EFEG program.
This new program is meant to help farmers purchase new electric farm equipment in an effort to reduce air pollution. The MDA expects to award around $6.6 million, with individual awards ranging from $1500 to $150,000. They expect to award 90 grants.
Eligible applicants include Minnesota farmers and livestock producers, and organizations that train or support farmers. The new program requires a 25% cash match. Grant funds are provided as reimbursements, meaning that grantees must pay project costs upfront and submit proof of expenses before being reimbursed.
Eligibility requirements and online application can be found on the Electric Farm Equipment Grant webpage at www.mda.state.mn.us/electric-farm-equipment-grant. Applications are due by Tuesday, August 11th, 2026 at 4 PM.
Funding for the program comes from the US Environmental Protection Agency through a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant awarded to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
