Minnesota DNR Planting Millions of Trees This Spring

Minnesota’s state forests are getting a major boost this spring. DNR Silviculturist Chris Gronewald says there’s numerous benefits to making sure the state’s forests are healthy…

Clean water is a huge one. People don’t think about this, but when you have forested land, that land underneath that forest becomes kind of a sponge that recharges our wetlands and our lakes, the things that we love as Minnesotans. Water is such a huge thing. Clean air is provided by forests. We get forest products out of forests. All those critters that everybody kind of loves, the wildlife, the birds, the game species, they all are reliant on forests. Shade, energy, products, healthy productive forests are so integral and so important.”

The DNR is currently planting about 2 million forest seedlings across 3,000 acres.
