Memorial Services Today (Monday) for Longtime Annandale Resident, Church Organist, Opal Fisher

Memorial Services are scheduled for today (Monday) in Annandale for a longtime resident of the community and noted church choir director and organist.

Opal Fisher passed away July 9th at the age of 95.

Opal grew up on the family farm outside of Alvarado, Minnesota where she graduated from high school. She also was a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead where she earned a degree in music. She later taught choir and elementary music in Warren, Minnesota, where she would meet her lifelong partner, Charles Fisher.

She later taught in the Clarkfield School district, and then became a full-time piano instructor. Charles and Opal moved to Annandale when Charles became the principal at Annandale High School. The Fisher’s raised their family in Annandale where Opal became active in the Annandale Improvement Club, and served for 58 years as a choir director and organist at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale, where Memorial Services will be held today (Monday).
