The Buffalo Police Department is reminding residents of the city that the 18th annual “Night to Unite” is coming up on Tuesday, August 4th.
For years, neighborhoods have been encouraged to hold a block party gathering to meet, or mingle with neighbors as a way to strengthen community relationships and build a stronger sense of connection. The city’s police officers or firefighters will plan a visit that evening to block parties registered with the department. Registration helps ensure public safety staff can connect with as many neighborhoods as possible.
The block party visits have become a popular way to engage with residents in a positive, informal setting outside of emergency calls.
The deadline for registering a neighborhood block party is Tuesday, July 21st.
