A funeral Mass is planned for today (Tuesday) for a longtime area resident and businessman. Gordon “Gordy” Lindenfelser passed away July 29th at the age of 71.
Gordy was born in Monticello, and grew up on a dairy farm, and played multiple sports for St. Michael-Albertville in his teens.
He and his wife, Mary Kay, were high school sweethearts. They raised their family in St. Michael.
Gordy learned the meat cutting trade while working at Lindenfelser Meats and Red Owl in Monticello. In 1979, he and Mary Kay purchased Hackenmueller’s Meats in Robbinsdale. For 46 years Gordy and his staff operated the meat shop that became known as one of the best in the state.
He was also a major volunteer and contributor to the Robbinsdale community, giving of his time to his friends, those in need, and local causes such as sports teams, community events, veterans, and Crescent Cove Children’s Hospice.
The funeral Mass for Gordon Lindenfelser will be held today in St. Michael. In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation in memory of Gordy to the Crescent Cove Children’s Hospice, Bluebird Education Network, Options for Women, or the St. Michael Endowment.
