Most Wright County farmers are pleased with the progress of crops as summer starts to turn the corner toward fall.
Wright County area farmer and Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing said at FarmFest this week that growing conditions in Wright County got a lot better late last week with 1 to 2 inches of rain in most places…
“Crops in our area are looking pretty good, we got about two inches of rain here the other night, and after the heat that we’ve experienced, that was well-needed. We didn’t have any water pooling, which tells me that it all went in, and that should be close to making our corn crop. Beans are coming along. Our 4th crop alfalfa’s due to cut here next week, and that’s looking good as well for our dairy operation. So, all in all, until it’s in the bin I won’t call it a success, but right now, in the field, it looks good.”

FarmFest 2026 continues through today near Redwood Falls. Today (Thursday), the University of Minnesota Extension’s Farm Families of the Year will be honored. Wright County’s Farm Family of the Year, Scott and Kim, and Dylan and Kennedy Youngren of Waverly will be honored along with the families selected by local U of M Extension officials in each Minnesota county.
