While several community festivals in our region wrapped up on Sunday, another community was putting the finishing touches on preparations for the start of it’s annual celebration.
The community of Cokato opens the 77th annual Cokato Corn Carnival today (Monday) for a three-day celebration.
Tonight’s featured events include the kiddie parade beginning at 6:20 PM, followed by the main parade, which this year features Kendell Kubasch who has conducted the Mid-Minnesota Concert Band for some 50 years. The band has been a part of the entertainment at the Cokato Corn Carnival for about the same amount of time. Kendell is, of course, also our on-air colleague at KRWC Radio.

Other events of the Corn Carnival today include food stands, fun at the midway, bingo at the park, music from “Hick With a Pick” on the main stage. The Cokato Museum this year is featuring a display entitled “Once Upon a Toybox.”
The annual corn-on-the-cob will be offered Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Most events today (Monday) and through the Corn Carnival are held in Cokato’s Peterson Park.
