Friends and family along with numerous members of the community of Winsted will remember a longtime resident, businesswoman and community volunteer at a funeral Mass on Saturday.
Judith “Judy” Langenfeld passed away June 23rd at the age of 78.
Judy grew up on her family’s farm near Miesville, later graduating from Hastings High School. She and her husband, Richard, lived briefly in Hastings, Farmington and Zumbrota before moving to Winsted in 1977 where they raised their family and became deeply committed to the community.
Judy was the co-owner of Winsted Floral and Gifts from 1980 to 1995. She also became an integral part of many volunteer organizations, including becoming a founding committee member of the Winstock Country Music Festival along with her husband Dick and their dear friends, Tom and LuAnn Ollig. Judy served as the manager of performing artist’s contracts. She also organized volunteers, and coordinated VIP and entertainer hospitality for more than 30 years.
Judy also gave countless hours of service to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, community fundraisers, civic organizations and charitable events.
In 2010, Judy and Dick were both honored with the Minneapolis Aquatennial Commodore Award in recognition of their dedicated service to the community. In 2018, Judy was presented with the Holy Trinity Leadership Award in recognition of her tireless work in the community.
The funeral Mass for Judy Langenfeld is planned for Saturday at 2 PM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. A reception at the Blue Note Ballroom in Winsted will follow her inurnment. All are encouraged to wear your favorite Winstock apparel, country music attire, or other casual clothing in Judy’s honor.
