A longtime resident and former businessman from the area will be remembered at a funeral Mass today (Monday).
Harold Hennen of Maple Lake passed away August 13th at the age of 86.
He grew up on the family farm in Watkins. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U-S Army. Harold and his wife, Joan raised their family during moves from the Twin Cities to the Greenfield and Loretto area, to St. Michael, and later retired at Sugar Lake in Maple Lake.
Harold was the former co-owner of Hennen Construction Company which he founded and operated with his brothers. Today the company is operated by Harold’s brother Steve, and nephew Doug, and Harold and Joan’s son, Curt. The company recently celebrated its 56th anniversary year.
Harold would also develop the St. Michael Dairy Queen which he and his family operated until 2006. He also was a longtime member of the Loretto and St. Michael Lions.
