Area residents are invited to help clean up and spruce up the historic Buffalo Lake scenic overlook this weekend.
The Buffalo Historical Society and the Buffalo Heritage Advisory Board are teaming together to organize the effort this Saturday, September 5th from 9 to 11 AM.
The scenic overlook and its historic stone wall was constructed as a part of the Works Progress Administration, or WPA effort to help communities and provide jobs for out-of-work Americans during the Great Depression of the 1930s.
Anyone interested in helping with the clean-up can bring various tools such as rakes, shovels, loppers, battery-operated weed whips and blowers to the area adjacent to the Buffalo Public Library Saturday morning. Officials say the Buffalo Historical Society will have stories and other historical background on the wall and its construction.
