New details have been released on an arrest following a suspected homicide in Monticello last week.
Officials with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office say around 7:30 AM on Thursday, September 3rd, Wright County Deputies were dispatched to 9127 State Highway 25 NE, unit number 806 in the city of Monticello on a report of an unresponsive adult male.
Deputies discovered an adult male later identified as 57-year-old Daniel Ferdelman from Monticello deceased inside of the residence. The initial report from law enforcement indicated that the deceased man had an apparent stab wound.
Authorities say evidence and information gathered from the scene indicated Ferdelman had been in a recent altercation with another adult male identified as 48-year-old Steven Stahlberg of Monticello. Ferdelman’s cause of death was later ruled a homicide by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office.
An extensive statewide search was conducted by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office and other Law Enforcement agencies resulting in Stahlberg’s vehicle being located later that morning around 9:45 AM by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Officials say Stahlberg was placed under arrest and transported to the Wright County Jail where he was booked into custody for Probable Cause Homicide.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation. Authorities say further charging information will be released by the Wright County Attorney’s Office.
