Young Big Lake Woman Critically Injured in Southeast Minnesota Traffic Crash

A young woman from Big Lake was critically injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Wabasha County in southeastern Minnesota.

The State Patrol reports that around 8:45 AM, a Buick passenger car was southbound on Highway 61, while a GMC pickup was northbound. The vehicles collided near Mile Marker 67 in Pepin Township.

The driver of the Buick sedan, 19-year-old Ellaina Johnson of Big Lake sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

The driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Neil Rude of Wabasha, was taken to the Wabasha Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wabasha Police, Fire and Ambulance services assisted State Troopers at the scene.
