The Carver County Sheriff’s Office says it has detained a 16-year-old male on a threats of violence complaint at Central High School in Norwood Young America on Tuesday.
Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud reports that his Office received a threat complaint at the school at 2:49 PM.
A deputy responded to the call, met with the reporting party, and learned that a 16-year-old male had brandished a weapon out of the window of a vehicle and toward other students. Multiple students are said to have witnessed the incident.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned the juvenile suspect was no longer on school grounds. The student was later detained and arrested. Authorities say a large knife was recovered from the juvenile suspect’s vehicle.
Officials say no students, staff, or citizens were harmed. Authorities say however, that the act of threats of violence of this type are a violation of the law. The Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that it takes threats of any kind seriously.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
