The American Red Cross is encouraging people to roll up a sleeve and give blood this fall.
Red Cross spokesperson Laura McGuire says continuing donations help to keep hospital shelves stocked…
“And at any given day, we’d like to have five days of inventory of all blood types on the shelves for hospitals. And I’m happy to say thanks to all our donors. We have accomplished that mission, but we still are in hurricane season.”
McGuire says blood shortages can occur due to emergencies during the hurricane season.
Appointments to donate can be made by visiting the Red Cross website.
