September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Dr. Elizabeth Heath is the Chair of the Oncology Department at Mayo Clinic and says cases are increasing…

“Hey the good news is we can diagnose and treat and when caught early it’s definitely much more curable, but when you have the prostate cancer incidents rising about three percent per year that main increase has been in men who are presented with an advanced stage of the disease.”

Dr. Heath says men should start thinking about getting screened for prostate cancer around age 50. She says however that those who have a family history of the disease may want to get checked beginning at age 45.
