The Wright County Board of Commissioners recently proclaimed October 4th through the 10th as National 4-H Week in Wright County.

4-H member and President of the Wright County 4-H Federation Board Sophie Salmela of Howard Lake made a presentation to the board regarding the many 4-H activities and youth development opportunities for youngsters between kindergarten and through one year past high school graduation. The board learned that Wright County’s 4-H program has 21 clubs, over 700 members and 180-plus adult volunteers.

Salmela said the 4-H groups from throughout the country use the first full week in October to spotlight the programs offered, celebrate the good things 4-H brings to children and young adults and as a way to increase awareness to recruit new members.

The board unanimously approved the resolution proclaiming October 4th through the 10th as National 4-H Week in Wright County.
