A Watertown man who is said to be wanted on multiple drug-related charges is wanted by Meeker County authorities after he ran from deputies on two occasions the past Sunday.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says that the man is believed to have been the driver of a car that was stopped by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office in the City of Dassel shortly after 4 PM Sunday. Authorities say the man gave a false name to the deputy who stopped his car, then ran off on foot into a corn field in the vicinity.
Officials say the man came out of the field a short time later and is believed to have been picked up by a friend. When deputies stopped that vehicle, the same scenario developed where the man ran back into the corn field.
This time officers set up a perimeter and used drones, along with the State Patrol helicopter in their search, but the man was not found. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office and the Litchfield Police Department also assisted Meeker County officials.
Officials believe the man is 52-year-old Steven Oachs of Watertown. Anyone who has information about the man’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office at (320) 693-5400. You may also remain anonymous by using the Tip Line at (320) 693-5411.
