Minnesota’s Cold Weather Rule is now in effect, and protects state residents from having the heat shut off between October and April, provided you work out a payment plan with your utility.
Michael Schmitz with Department of Commerce says a lot of families utilize the state’s Energy Assistance Program…
“We can help pay for your energy bills. Make sure that you don’t get disconnected, make sure you’re able to get a delivery of fuel oil, propane that kind of thing.”
Schmitz says they served more than 125 thousand households last heating season.
Here in our area, the Wright County Community Action Agency can help residents with the proper forms to get them connected to Energy Assistance funds.
