Governor Tim Walz recently led a delegation of Minnesotans on a trade mission to Denmark, Sweden and Iceland.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President and Wright County farmer Dan Glessing of Waverly traveled with the group and says trips such as these help to establish important relationships for Minnesota farmers…
“We’re very blessed and fortunate to have the ability to grow so much food in this country and the state but if we can’t get it to those who need it or get a decent market price for it, it’s kind of all for nothing. So, these trips are critically important to kind of bridge the gaps so to speak over the ocean.”
Glessing says the Nordic countries are especially interested in our soybeans and the future of sustainable aviation fuel. He says the trade mission presented a perfect opportunity to highlight the state’s farm products…
“Pound home that our most important aspect of being there is use for our products and build a good relationship with those potential consumers and likewise for us to know what they’re producing.”
Glessing says he shared information on how trade partners can use Minnesota soybeans for better feed production for their cattle.
