Family, friends and longtime vendors and visitors of the Wright County Swappers Meet will remember one of its originators.
Gladys Miller passed away October 8th at her home at the age of 96.
Gladys was born on the Combs family farm near Annandale. She attended school in Monticello through the 8th grade, then moved to Kimball, where she graduated with the Class of 1949.
Gladys and Stanley Miller raised their family on their farm in Southside Township near South Haven.
The couple came up with the idea of starting a “Swappers Meet” on the family farm during the summer months. Stanley ran the front gates, while Gladys cooked breakfast and lunch in the red food building every Saturday.
After Stanley passed away in 1982, Gladys carried on with the Swappers Meet with help from her sisters and family. The weekly gathering continues under family leadership to this day.
Gladys is survived by her four children, 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
