Applications are being accepted for the Minnesota Farm Bureau’s Sesquicentennial Farm program, which honors Minnesota farm families that have owned their farms for at least 150 years.
Qualifying farms must be at least 50 acres in size, and 150 years old in 2025 according to the abstract of title, land patent, original deed, county land records, or other authentic land records. The family needs to have had continuous ownership of the farm throughout the 150 years, though continuous residence on the farm is not required.
A commemorative certificate signed by the governor of Minnesota, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and the president of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation will be awarded to qualifying families, along with an outdoor display sign. Recipients of the Sesquicentennial Farm honor will be named in April. Applications are available at www.fbmn.org, or call (651) 768-2111.
Century Farm program applications are also open, and similar requirements apply. Information is available online at; www.mnstatefair.org, or by calling (651) 288-4417.
The deadline to apply for both programs is March 3rd.
