A day-long snowstorm that reached blizzard status crawled through much of Minnesota including Wright County on Sunday.
Early morning fog and freezing precipitation was followed by 5 to 6 inches of wind-driven snow that clogged roads and forced a number of churches and businesses to cancel or change their hours.
Numerous motorists trying to head home after the Christmas holiday found themselves in very slippery and slow driving conditions, with blowing snow and in some cases, whiteouts were encountered in open areas.
Blowing and drifting is expected to continue throughout the day on Monday. Motorists are reminded to give plenty of distance for plowing crews and other snow removal equipment to tackle the new snow today.
Roads are expected to gradually improve throughout the day, though it may take 48 hours or more to get all roads back to good winter driving condition.
