The Buffalo Fire Department has been busy in recent days battling fires on consecutive days last weekend.

Buffalo Fire Chief John Harnois tells KRWC Radio News that a fire did significant damage to a garage at a residence on Upplanda Street Saturday afternoon (September 7th).

The first call for fire assistance came in around 3 PM for the garage fire at 304 Upplanda Street. Chief Harnois says a resident was at home and was working in the garage when they stepped away from the structure to talk with neighbors. Moments later, flames erupted in the garage.

Firefighters from Buffalo and Maple Lake controlled the blaze in a short amount of time, but remained on the scene to monitor the situation until about 5 PM.

The chief indicated that damage could reach 100 thousand dollars. The home itself also sustained smoke damage. No injuries were reported. While Chief Harnois indicated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, there is no indication from any authorities that the blaze was anything but accidental.

Buffalo fire crews also battled a fire Friday, September 5th at a storage building at 300 Brighton Avenue. Chief Harnois says around 5:35 PM that day, fire destroyed a classic car that the owner was working on in the building. No injuries were reported.
