Celebration of Life Saturday for Longtime Buffalo Resident, Businessman, Neil Hammer

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday in Buffalo for a longtime resident and businessman. Neil Hammer passed away July 4th at the age of 86.

Neil was born and raised in the Bird Island area, growing up on the family farm. After high school, he enrolled in the U-S Marine Corps.

Neil and his wife, Marilyn originally came to Buffalo because of a nursing position for Marilyn. Neil meanwhile, started his career at the Oakley National Bank. In 1977, he purchased the Oakley National Insurance Agency from the bank, and owned and operated the agency until his retirement in 2000 when it was sold to Wells Fargo.

Neil had a number of hobbies, including flying, golf, and singing. He was a member of the Bisonaires Male Chorus in Buffalo in the 1960s, and sang in his church choir in Buffalo and also at his winter home in Anna Maria Island, Florida.

Services for Neil Hammer are scheduled for 12 noon on Saturday, August 2nd at the Buffalo United Methodist Church.
