Celebration of Life Saturday for Longtime Delano Resident, Businessman, Civic Leader, Douglas “Doug” Shoutz

A Celebration of Life is planned for this weekend for a longtime Delano area resident, businessman and elected official.

Douglas “Doug” Shoutz passed away February 21st at the age of 85.

Doug grew up in the Kimball area on the family farm, and later graduated with the Class of 1957 at Litchfield High School.

Doug and his wife, Marie, moved to Delano where they raised their family.

He started driving truck for Murphy Motor Freight, before starting his own company, Shoutz Transfer. Later, he also owned and operated the Nite Place bar in Delano, as well as other various businesses.

Doug also served a term on the Delano City Council, and was a past member and president of the Delano Lions Club.

The Celebration of Life for Douglas Shoutz is scheduled for 11 AM Saturday at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
