Cokato Man Involved in SUV vs. Pickup Crash Near Silver Lake

A Wright County man was one of two drivers involved in a pickup truck vs. SUV crash Wednesday afternoon near Silver Lake in neighboring McLeod County.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that just before 1 PM, a Chevy Captiva compact SUV was northbound on Grove Avenue in Hale Township, and was turning east onto State Highway 7. The SUV turned into the path of a Ford F-250 pickup that was eastbound on Highway 7.

Authorities say the driver of the Chevy SUV, 76-year-old Diane Horstmann of Lester Prairie, and a passenger, 30-year-old Ashley Horstmann of Glencoe, both sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash. Both were treated at the Glencoe Hospital.

The driver of the Ford pickup, 23-year-old Clarke Hoikka of Cokato, was not injured.

The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, and the Silver Lake Fire Department and Ambulance assisted State Troopers at the scene.
