The suspect in the brutal attack at a workplace in Cokato earlier this month has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
40-year-old David Bruce Delong of Watkins appeared in Wright County Court on Monday surrounding 2nd degree murder charges in the death of 20-year-old Amber Czech of Hutchinson. Delong is accused of beating the young woman to death with a sledgehammer at Advanced Process Technologies, a metal fabrication manufacturing company in Cokato on November 11th. Czech was employed as a welder at the plant.

The criminal complaint against David Delong indicates that after he had been read his rights, he allegedly told investigators that he did not like the young woman, and admitted killing her after planning the attack for some time.
Delong must now undergo the mental evaluation to determine whether or not he is competent to stand trial.
Wright County Attorney Brian Lutes has also notified the court that he intends to send the case to a grand jury for consideration of 1st degree premeditated murder charges. State law requires that a grand jury must pass any indictment of 1st degree murder.
Meanwhile, Delong is being held in Wright County on 5 million dollars bail without conditions, or 2 million dollars with conditions.
The court has set January 15th to review Delong’s competency testing.
