Officials with the Wright County Compost and Recycling Center are reminding residents that while construction continues at the permanent site of center, the temporary location at 5538 85th Street Northwest in Maple Lake is accepting used sharps.
The site is a free-drop off location for used human sharps such as; needles, lancets, used epi-pens, and syringes from households only. Officials ask that the needles or sharps are stored in a rigid, puncture-resistant, plastic container with a screw-on lid such as an empty laundry detergent bottle with a screw-on lid. You can also purchase a sharps disposable container from a pharmacy or online retailer. The puncture-resistant container must be plastic.
Residents are reminded that the center does not accept medicines or unused medicines contained in sharps, such as epi-pens at the facility.
Also, Wright County does not accept needles and sharps from businesses, including healthcare facilities, pharmacies, pharmaceutical representatives, doctor’s offices and veterinary clinics. Animal sharps are not being accepted at this time.
