The Wright County Board of Commissioners held their first meeting of the new year January 7th.

The meeting included the swearing in of commissioners elected in November, and the selection of the board chair for 2025.

District 2 Commissioner Darek Vetsch was sworn in to begin his third term as a county commissioner, and Kirby Moynagh of Montrose was sworn in to begin his first term as the new commissioner for District 5.

Commissioner Vetsch said in a statement that he is “…proud to represent District 2, and all residents of Wright County.” Vetsch called it a “…privilige and honor to help shape the policies and initiatives that continue to make Wright County a great place to live and raise children.”

New District 5 Commissioner Kirby Moynagh won the open seat created when former District 5 Commissioner Mike Kaczmarek announced last spring that he would not seek another term. Moynagh said he intends to continue the strong representation the district has had over many years on the county board.

Following the swearing in, the commissioners voted for Commissioner Vetsch to continue as the board chairman for the third straight year. While he didn’t lobby for the position, he said he was proud to get selected again as the board chair.
