The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development is awarding nearly $7 million in grant funding to help with site cleanup.
Program Director Kristin Lukes describes some of the funded projects…
“There’s a lot of different types of projects during this grant round. We had a couple of housing projects, some community Wellness Centers, YMCA, some industrial sites and some of our favorite community and brewery and event spaces.”
In our region, two projects receiving funding include a clean-up for redevelopment of a plot in the City of Medina for a new 89-unit multi-family apartment complex, and an approximately 1-acre site in the City of Waconia to be redeveloped as a 92-unit, multi-family apartment complex.
Lukes says this round of projects is expected to create almost 500 jobs and increase local tax bases by $4.7 million dollars.
