DNR Officials Remind Deer Hunters of CWD Testing Options

If you’re headed back out for a second weekend of deer hunting this weekend and are successful, the Minnesota DNR encourages you to have the animal tested for chronic wasting disease.

Wildlife Health Supervisor Erik Hildebrand says it’s a good idea to test any deer harvested that’s over a year and a half…

If they want to provide that sample at either our staff check stations or they could use other methods such as the Hunter mailing kit, they could use the partner sampling program, which is mostly made-up of tax permits. Or they could use at local area wildlife office and set up an appointment with that local wildlife manager.”

More information on CWD testing in Minnesota can be found on the DNR’s website.
