The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is trying to modernize the state’s resources so people can better enjoy the outdoors.
Wildlife program coordinator Dion Turgeon says they’re making improvements to hunter walking trails…
“We’re looking to do some improved signage on those as well. We’re looking at digitizing some maps for Hunter wayfinding. We’re going to provide trailheads kiosks and our trail intersection kiosks. We have some accessibility studies that we’re doing with the action track chairs and some feasibility for our hunter walking trails.”
He says some of the funding will also help to make wildlife management areas more accessible…
“We’re doing new parking facilities, trails, road improvements, hunting blinds and viewing platforms. We also have $1 million that has been sent to us for the modernizing boat accesses within our WMAs. And then additionally, we have major Rd. improvements where we have roads accessing these facilities such as boat accesses, viewing platforms, hunting areas.”
The DNR is investing $150 million to projects all over the state. More information on the projects can be found on the DNR’s website at: www.dnr.state.mn.us.
