Egg Prices Slowly Beginning to Settle Down, Still Subject to HPAI Outbreaks

The USDA conducted their latest look at egg production and prices as part of its recent supply and demand estimates.

Nationwide prices are slowly beginning to show signs of settling down, but long term stability will still depend on curbing new outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, or HPAI.

Local supermarkets around Wright County have seen egg prices remain very high, though some stores have been running a few sales from time to time where eggs have been sold at cost, or even as a loss leader to encourage customer traffic.

The next big test for local egg prices will be around the Easter holiday, when demand traditionally goes way up for a week to ten days.
