Endorsed GOP MN Senate Candidate Michael Holmstrom Jr., DFL’er Louis McNutt Advance From Tuesday Primary

There were no major surprises in Tuesday’s special primary election in Minnesota Senate District 29.

Buffalo Republican Michael Holmstrom Jr., who had the Wright County GOP endorsement in the Republican primary, advanced easily over two other GOP candidates.

According to numbers from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office, Holmstrom received 2090 votes, or about 73 percent of the GOP vote. Bradley Kurtz had 621 votes, while Rachel Davis received 137 votes.

Holmstrom will now be the lone Republican candidate on the November 4th general election ballot.

Louis McNutt is the lone DFL candidate, and received 460 votes, and automatically advanced to the general election.

The special primary, and the November general election for the open seat in Minnesota Senate District 29 is a result of the unexpected death of State Senator Bruce Anderson of Buffalo earlier this summer.
