UPDATE: Collins, Sr. is now facing murder charges in the death of his son. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday in Anoka County. An autopsy ruled that Collins, Jr.’s death was homicide, and that there was evidence that he was decapitated. Click HERE for an updated story.
Law enforcement has taken a man into custody in connection with a body of a teenaged boy that was found in an Elk River landfill in late June.
On July 7th, 38-year-old Jordan Dupree Collins Sr. of Columbia Heights was arrested in connection with the death of his son, Jordan Dupree “Manny” Collins, Jr.
Collins, Jr. was last seen on May 8th near the 4900 block of University Ave. NE in Columbia Heights. The last contact he had with anyone was a text sent to his mother at around 4 AM. Authorities first searched the Elk River Landfill on June 4th. Human remains were discovered on June 28th and were confirmed by DNA to be the missing teen two days later.
Collins, Jr. was staying with his father at the time of his disappearance.
