Friday Morning Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Arrest in Monticello

Wright County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a driver after a brief vehicle pursuit in Monticello Friday morning.

Officials say around 9:30 AM, deputies initiated a traffic stop near Highway 25 and School Boulevard in the City of Monticello.

The driver of the vehicle fled from deputies and a short pursuit began. The vehicle continued to flee onto eastbound I-94, and moments later left the roadway east of Fallon Avenue. The driver then fled on foot into the area of East Broadway and Meadow Oak Lane.

Deputies deployed a K9 unit as well as drones, and located the driver hiding in the 2600 block of Meadow Oak Lane.

40-year-old John Proper of Greenbush, Minnesota was arrested for felony fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle. Authorities say other charges may be pending including several outstanding warrants.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
