A funeral Mass is scheduled for today (Friday) in Maple Lake for a longtime area resident and businessman.
Wayne Malachek passed away January 28th at the age of 87.
Wayne grew up in Maple Lake, and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1955 graduate of Maple Lake High School, and was a veteran of the U-S Army.
Wayne and his wife, Rose, raised their family in Maple Lake, while he worked as an operating engineer in the construction industry. He worked for many companies including Northern Contracting, Lunda Construction, Johnson Brothers, Truck Crane Service, and Spancrete Midwest. He also owned and operated Wayne’s Radiator Service for over 20 years.
Wayne was a lifelong member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church of Maple Lake, and was active with the choir. He was also a big fan of Maple Lake Lakers baseball.
