A funeral Mass is planned for today in Waverly for a well-known, life-long resident of the area.
George Karels, Jr. passed away April 29th at the age of 61.
George was born in Winsted, but grew up in Waverly, and was a lifelong resident of Woodland Township. He and his wife, Ann raised their family with six children in the Waverly area.
He owned and operated the family business, KBS, Karels Brothers and Sons which grew into a complete recycling conglomerate.
George is survived by his family and 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by numerous siblings and their spouses, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial for George Karels, Jr. is scheduled for 11 AM today (Wednesday) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
I’m terribly sorry for your loss. I didn’t know until just this very moment. I would have come to say my goodbye! What a wonderful man. I appreciate what your family has done. God Bless you all in this time!
