Funeral services are scheduled for Friday in Buffalo for a longtime area resident who was noted for her work in the 877 School District, and her coaching in the Rockford School District.
Jean Kubu passed away April 28th at the age of 81.
Jean was borne in Iowa, and graduated from the Van Horne Consolidated High School in 1962. She was a member of the 1962 Iowa State Champion Girls Basketball Team.
Jean attended college at Drake University in Des Moines, and later at the University of Minnesota studying Secretarial and Coaching Sports Management.
Jean and her husband, Gene, settled in Buffalo, and raised their family in the area.
Jean worked as a Para and School Secretary for 37 years in District 877, and also coached girls volleyball, softball and basketball at Rockford High School for 14 years.
Services for Jean Kubu are planned for Friday at 1 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
