Governor Tim Walz has decided to move forward with a special election in September to fill Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman’s House seat.
Republican Senator Michael Kreun of Blaine says it makes sense in case there’s a special session needed in the fall…
“Obviously we don’t go back into session until February but you know the governor is talking about potentially having a special session and so perhaps that’s why he decided to do it for that event to make sure that district has representation.”
The special election for House District 34B is set for September 16.
