Minnesota cities from outside the metro are hoping their needs won’t be forgotten when it comes to the new legislative session.
The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) is urging lawmakers to pass a bonding bill this session to cover $225 million for water and wastewater projects, and another $250 million for lead service line replacement.
Elizabeth Wefel says state aid is desperately needed in many areas…
“Our cities are willing to step up and do their part in addressing water infrastructure and lead line replacement but it is incredibly difficult to pay for these massive projects without financial assistance from the state.”
Wefel says bonding bills not only help cover these projects, but also keep property taxes lower for their residents.
