One driver was killed, another injured in a car vs. pickup crash in the early morning hours Friday night into Saturday.
The State Patrol reports that around 1:45 AM (Saturday) a Chevy Malibu that was westbound on Highway 24 in Litchfield Township in neighboring Meeker County collided with an eastbound pickup truck. Officials say the crash happened near the intersection with 620th Avenue.
The driver of the Chevy sedan, 22-year-old Eben Laidlaw of Grove City died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash. Officials say Laidlaw was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the pickup truck, 22-year-old Joseph Johnson of Litchfield suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Authorities say alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The Litchfield Police and Fire Departments, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Ambulance assisted the State Patrol.
